Ella is 7 months old -- how crazy is that?!
Our little gremlin is 7 months old! She's learning new stuff every day, and yesterday pulled herself up from sitting for the first time ... by herself. We may indeed have an early walker on our hands. She is off the pacifier, sleeping better, and almost rash-free. Her copious amounts of drool seem to have been the culprit, and no pacifier helps with that. There are lots of exciting new foods she's been trying -- blueberries, cheerios, and turkey to name a few. No new teeth to report, but there are some bumps developing and non-stop chewing so they may be emerging soon.

We can't believe it, but Ella is 6 months old!
She has 2 teeth (bottom front) and is using them to chew up everything in sight. Especially books -- she can't get enough and many of ours now have bite marks. Ella is a very good eater. Her menu has expanded to include carrots, peas, green beans, and pears, with more on the way. She can stay sitting up by herself for a while, she just needs a little help getting there. Standing is also a favorite, her legs are getting really strong! It's actually a bit scary, clearly walking is in our near future.

Ella is 5 months old!
For those who haven't been here for all the feedings and the great achievement of Ella learning to roll over, and a week or so later, how to roll back... here are some new pix. She's a real grabber now as well, and seems to enjoy her rice cereal. By "enjoy" I mean, she gobbles some down, spits some out, grabs at the spoon (not the handle, but the business end of it with the cereal in it), dribbles a good deal down her chin and smiles pretty much all the while. Except when she's really hungry and that spoon can't possibly move fast enough, so, the bottle is all she'll agree to. And yes she knows what a bottle is now... really. One look at a bottle and she's demanding it.
At leisure time, she enjoys turning pages of books. The Richard Scarry illustrations in "I Am A Bunny" are particularly compelling.
Photos abound!

And from her first vacation, first plane flight, and visits with Gwen, Chris and Anna in Gearhart. And with Jay, Jocelyn, Bennet, and Sam in Portland + Gearhart:

3 Months
At 3.5 months, our dear Ella Rose has learned to flip herself over from back to tummy. We've only seen her go from tummy to back a few times, but she can definitely do it. There was a bit of a scare when she flipped herself over swaddled, so no more swaddling!
She's also learned to laugh out loud, which as you can imagine, is super cute. She especially loves being bounced around and climbing Mount Daddy and Mommy, guaranteed smiles and laughs. She's a pretty happy kid.
The teething process has begun, which means that she's drooling like a champ, gnawing on her hands like it's going out of style, and fussier than usual. You can see two small bumps where her bottom front teeth are emerging. Thankfully Shawnette recommended some herbal teething drops, which seem to help.
We're trying to cut down to four or five feedings a day, eating every 4 hours or so, and it seems to be working -- she's eating more and still sleeping through the night. We've also been trying a three hour nap in the middle of the day. Some days are easier than others, but she's definitely in a better mood when she gets more sleep. No matter when we put her to bed she's up by 7am, so we're working on an earlier bedtime.
