11 Months: Walking & Talking

Oh, it's been quite a month! Ella started really walking last week (8 or 9 steps at a time, she's been cruising for several months) and she said her first word yesterday, "eye." We were reading a book, and she very definitively pointed to the eye of a rooster and said "eye." She did it again several times, and again this morning with Josefine (nanny #4), so she really knows what it means.

Depending on how you classify such things, I guess her first word could also be "no, no, no." She runs over to an outlet, tries to pry out the plug covers with her little fingers while saying "no, no, no ... no, no, no." Needless to say we are switching covers, to the kind where you replace the whole front plate.

She's got great balance and is getting better at walking every day. She can also climb up stairs lickety-split (scary!) and dance, I'm sure she'll be running around before we know it.

Ella has 2 more teeth coming on on the bottom, which will give her a grand total of 8. Teething is no fun, she's chewing on everything in sight, including her crib. She's a good eater, and by far the favorites are chicken and dad's turkey meatballs. She's had her share of chicken katsu, carribean bbq chicken, doubles and roti, soba noodles, and more.

Our Ella still loves books, seriously she can't get enough -- we read at least 10 books a day together. She also enjoys playing with her xylophone, toy house, and a musical toy from aunt Shirley that plays snippets of songs.

She's been sick on and off for the entire winter, otherwise known as building her immune system.
